Cover-Crop Seeds
How long in cm/inches do the plants grow?
These plants typically reach 6–12 inches in the first month under normal conditions.
Which seed grows well in what soil?
Our five cover-crop species tolerate varied soils. Optimal pH 5.5–7.6. CM likes acidic clay (pH 4.5–5). MB, CP, CC, PJ prefer slightly acidic–neutral soils.
How long does it take for each seed to achieve complete cover?
CM ≈ 2 mo, MB ≈ 2 mo, CP ≈ 2 mo (90 % germination in 1 wk), PJ ≈ 6 mo, CC slower but climbs well even in 90 % shade.
Relative drought tolerance among these plant seeds?
All five are drought-tolerant thanks to deep tap-roots; surface dryness won’t kill them.
What crops pair well with these seeds?
MB & CC are best as monocrops; CP, CM & PJ inter-crop nicely with tree crops like durian and coffee.
Relative soil-erosion control?
MB > PJ > CM = CP > CC — MB’s dense root system offers top erosion protection.
Cost savings when using cover crops?
Main savings come from lower herbicide use and reduced synthetic nitrogen bills.
Which seeds are suitable for forage?
CP makes good forage & hay. MB, CM, PJ & CC supply biomass for mulch or compost.
Growth-speed ranking (slow → fast)?
CC > PJ > CM ≈ MB > CP.
Terrains best suited?
All five establish on slopes and flatlands; CM, CP & PJ handle varied terrain.
Pest resistance?
Generally pest-resistant; infestations occur only with heavy damage.
Pollinator attraction?
Yes—bees & butterflies benefit; frogs thrive in dense cover.
Best planting season?
Start of the rainy season; stands persist 2–3 years.
Nutrients contributed?
Fix 35–450 kg N ha⁻¹ yr⁻¹ depending on density.
Weed suppression effectiveness?
All five smother weeds once >70 % ground cover is achieved.
Soil microbial impact?
Roots feed beneficial microbes, boosting biodiversity.
Recommended seeding rate?
Use 1 × 1 m grid or broadcast 8–10 kg ha⁻¹.
Biomass / green-manure use?
Harvest at peak canopy; CP excels as hay.
Flood tolerance?
Survive up to 2 weeks’ flooding; die if submerged longer.
Extreme-weather resilience?
Handle droughts & moderate flooding; MB is aggressive but controllable.
SoilBoost EA (Soil Conditioner)
What is SoilBoost EA and how does it work?
A humic-acid soil conditioner that improves structure, boosts microbes, and enhances nutrient uptake.
When should I apply SoilBoost EA vs fertilizer?
Apply SoilBoost EA before planting or during land prep; add NPK later if tissue tests call for it.
Signs soil needs conditioning?
Cracked crust, stunted plants, standing water, or poor drainage indicate SoilBoost EA can help.
Crop performance benefits?
Trials show stronger roots, better drought resilience, and higher yields in durian, cacao, and vegetables.
Organic-certifiable?
Yes—meets standards for organic input use (check your certifier).
Recommended rate?
Broadcast 50–100 kg ha⁻¹ or band 20 g per planting hole for trees.
Kudzu RB Lure (Pest Management)
What is Kudzu RB Lure and how does it work?
A slow-release pheromone (ethyl 4-methyloctanoate) that lures Oryctes rhinoceros beetles into traps.
Trap density per hectare?
Deploy 1 trap per 2 ha (~5 acres) for full mass-trapping coverage.
Sachet replacement interval?
Replace every 8–10 weeks; sooner under heavy beetle pressure.
Sachet longevity once opened?
Remains attractive ~8–10 weeks under tropical field conditions.
Is it safe for people & environment?
Yes—non-toxic and species-specific; fits IPM programs.
Compatibility with other controls?
Works alongside Metarhizium spores, light traps, or targeted insecticides.
Manufacturing origin?
Produced by ChemTica International S.A. (Costa Rica); distributed in PH by Kudzuseeds.
