About this product

Effective & Eco-Friendly Solution for Mass Trapping Rhinoceros Beetles

What is Kudzu RB Lure?

A scientifically formulated, slow-release pheromone designed specifically for the mass trapping of Oryctes rhinoceros (L.) rhinoceros beetles. This product is ideal for use in coconut and oil palm plantations. It has been proven to significantly reduce the rhinoceros beetle populations, thereby minimizing damage to young oil palms and coconut trees. KUDZU RB LURE is non-hazardous, easy to handle, and environmentally friendly.

Manufactured by: ChemTica International, S.A., Costa Rica
Distributed by: Kudzu Seeds Trading, sister company of Chemiseed Sdn. Bhd.

Key Features:

  • Advanced Formulation: Slow-release pheromone tailored for the effective trapping of Oryctes rhinoceros.
  • Targeted Action: Specially developed to attract rhinoceros beetles, making it an essential tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Benefits:

  • High Efficiency: Effective in mass trapping female beetles, leading to substantial population control.
  • Damage Reduction: Trapping reduces beetle-induced damage to oil palms and coconut trees, protecting your valuable crops.
  • Eco-Friendly: An environmentally safe pest control measure that minimizes the use of chemical insecticides.

Optimal Usage:

Trap Density:

  • Placement: For optimal results, place one (1) pheromone trap per 2 hectares. This density ensures effective coverage of the area and maximizes beetle capture rates.
  • Positioning: Hang the traps 2-3 metres above the soil surface along the rows of the palms. This positioning takes advantage of the natural behavior of rhinoceros beetles, which are attracted to higher points where pheromones are dispersed more effectively.

Kudzu RB Lure Sachet Details:

  • Composition: Each pheromone sachet contains a specific formulation of the Oryctes rhinoceros pheromone (ethyl 4-methyloctanoate) in a slow-release matrix. The exact quantity of pheromone in each sachet is calculated to be effective over an 8-10 week period.
  • Duration: The slow-release design ensures a consistent and gradual emission of the pheromone, maintaining attraction potency over the specified duration.

Required Kudzu RB Lure Sachets per 2 Hectares:

Initial Setup: For a 2-hectare area, you need to set up one trap with one pheromone sachet.

Ongoing Maintenance:

  • Replacement Frequency: Replace the pheromone sachet every 8-10 weeks, depending on the beetle catch rate. If the catch rate drops significantly before 8 weeks, consider replacing the sachet sooner.
  • Monitoring: Regularly monitor the traps to assess the catch rate and condition of the sachet. High infestation areas may require closer monitoring and more frequent replacement. Putting 4 (four) Kudzu RB Lure sachets per trap is recommended.

Why Choose Kudzu RB Lure?

  • Proven Results: Trusted by farmers and plantation managers for its effectiveness in reducing beetle populations.
  • Sustainable Agriculture: Supports eco-friendly farming practices by reducing reliance on harmful chemicals.

Deployment considerations

Pheromone lure effectiveness depends on trap placement, maintenance schedule, field sanitation, and environmental conditions. Lures are species-specific and should be used as part of an integrated pest management program, not as a standalone solution.
