What we ship for export

Export quotations cover the five legume cover crop species below and the SoilBoost EA soil conditioner. Species, quantity and packing are confirmed on the quotation.

Mucuna bracteata (MB)

A vigorous legume cover used under oil palm and rubber. It is raised as nursery seedlings and transplanted, not broadcast.

Pueraria javanica (PJ)

A spreading legume cover, broadcast on its own or as part of a mixture.

Calopogonium mucunoides (CM)

A quick-establishing legume, usually sown in a mixture. In mixtures it is generally the first species to establish and the first to be shaded out (PROSEA 11).

Centrosema pubescens (CP)

A climbing legume cover, broadcast and often sown with PJ and CM.

Calopogonium caeruleum (CC)

A persistent perennial cover. Tropical Forages records growth under mature oil palm as well as in the open.

Establishment and published seeding rates

The figures below are published records, each with its conditions. The seeding rate for your site is set on the quotation.

Species Establishment Published record
Mucuna bracteata (MB) Nursery seedlings, transplanted 320 seedlings/ha, two per palm point, from about 500 seeds (75 g), on deep peat (MPOB TT No. 501). 680 seedlings/ha at 1.5 m spacing on mineral soil, about 100% ground cover at 6 months (Samedani et al. 2015).
Pueraria javanica (PJ) Broadcast About 4 kg/ha (Tropical Forages, listed there as Neustanthus phaseoloides).
Calopogonium mucunoides (CM) Broadcast, usually in a mixture Covers the soil 3 to 6 months after sowing, sooner on newly cleared fertile land, with a dense sward at 4 to 5 months (PROSEA 11).
Centrosema pubescens (CP) Broadcast 3 to 5 kg/ha (Tropical Forages).
Calopogonium caeruleum (CC) Broadcast with PJ 1 to 1.5 kg/ha CC with 5 to 7.5 kg/ha PJ (Tropical Forages).
Mixtures Broadcast in the interrow PJ 4 + CP 3 + CC 1 = 8 kg/ha, plus 5 g Rhizobium per kg seed (MPOB TT No. 501). Calopo, centro and kudzu at 5:4:1, or centro and kudzu at 4:1, sown at 2 to 5 kg/ha (PROSEA 4, 1992).

In one 15N isotope-dilution study under three-year-old oil palm on Jawa Series soil in Malaysia, Mucuna bracteata derived 67 to 84% of its nitrogen from the atmosphere (Cheah et al. 2010). Legume cover contributes nitrogen; adjust your fertiliser programme only after soil and leaf analysis shows what the cover supplies on your block.

How export quotations work

  • What to send us: species, quantity, destination port and any import conditions your plant protection authority has set.
  • Currency and delivery terms: export quotations are in USD. Prices are Ex Works Tigatto, Davao City, unless the quotation states FOB or CIF; FOB or CIF is quoted on request.
  • Payment: payment in full before dispatch. VAT and invoicing are confirmed on the quotation.
  • Minimum order and lead time: both are confirmed on the quotation.
  • Samples: samples on request, with terms on the quotation.
  • Documents: germination and purity test results, and a BPI phytosanitary certificate for export, are available on request. Any other export documents your importer needs are confirmed on the quotation.
  • Origin: shipped from Davao City, Philippines.

Import permits are the buyer's responsibility. Seed-import rules differ between countries, and some cover crop species are restricted or prohibited in some jurisdictions.

Before ordering, confirm with your national plant protection organisation which species may be imported, and obtain any import permit, quarantine clearance or species approval it requires. The BPI phytosanitary certificate covers the consignment at origin; it does not by itself authorise import, and the importing country's own requirements and additional declarations apply. A quotation is not a warranty that a consignment may lawfully be imported, and we do not ship where import is not permitted.

Buyers in Malaysia and Indonesia are served by our sister company, Chemiseed Sdn. Bhd., at chemiseed.com.
